What I would like to do with this page is show some of the little tricks that solve common shop problems. I would appreciate any tips that you might have and want to share.
One of the annoying problems I kept running across was mounting my lights where I wanted
them. Most lamps come with clamp type bases that are worthless. The solution I came up
with is using handy boxes and connectors. They are secure, can be mounted anywhere and
hold the light firmly. I use them at nearly every station.

This is my blade straightener. Made out of angle iron with 1/2 in round rod welded to it
and back straps to hold it on the vise. You can sight down the blade and find the apex of
the curve put it between the posts and apply as much pressure as needed to take out the
warpage. This is safer than hammering on the blade and with the leather protectors doesn't
mare the blade.
Now this device may not look pretty, being made from rebar and oil drum, but it keeps the
scale from falling on the tops of your shoes. This is especially appreciated by those who
forge in sneakers. For details or to order your very own shoe saver, contact
